Murder Road by Simone St James BOOK Review/Tour

Picture it: a long dark highway…a long dark highway that’s deserted. Deserted until you see a light in the woods and a lone figure barely walking on the side of the road. Would you slow down and offer help?

A couple on their honeymoon, picks up a woman, a woman who ends up dying. The road they picked her up from isn’t the first to claim a victim either. Many murders have happened and the police don’t have a suspect. All identified except for the first..why was she different?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. If you’ve read Simone before, you know she’s a master of creepy, ghost infused stories. And Murder Road was no different. In fact, she excelled at this storytelling and I’m here for it! As always, Simone was brilliant at her job, she drew me into the story and held me captive until the end. The characters were detailed and their own stories were perfectly spliced into the main storyline.

I really loved this story. It was full of suspense and mystery and kept me engaged. A definite must read! Four stars!

The Haunting of Maddy Clare by Simone St James BOOK Review

I can’t tell you how long I’ve wanted to read this gem from Simone and after finishing, it was well worth the wait!

Sarah is lonely, she has no friends and is barely making ends meet. In fact, she is in need of a job when her temporary agency sends her to a ghost hunter to be his assistant. They are asked to come and rid a barn of its ghost inhabitant, Maddy. A teenager who committed suicide thus refusing to leave. Plagued with finding about who Maddy was and what drew her to kill herself, Sarah and Alistair and his other assistant, Matthew are on a ride of their lives.

This story was wild and absolutely amazing! I love a good haunt and the details in this were so well written. They were believable and gave the perfect amount of “scare” and “creepy”. I really enjoyed this one, Simone is truly an incredible writer and just like the rest, this one did not disappoint. Four stars for this incredible read that kept me wanting to read as well as interested.

The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St James BOOK Review

This is the third book of Simone’s that I’ve read and each one has been fabulous with just enough creepiness to get your heart beating. This one was a wild ride, a book that went between the 1970’s and 2017.

Shea is a medical receptionist by day and a detective sleuth by night. She runs a website by the name of The Book of Cold Cases where she talks about crime cases and somehow one of the people in one of those crimes just happens to come into her clinic. Seeing Beth sitting there she knows she has to do something but, what can she do? She desperately wants to interview her but, can she do that without getting fired?

This book was soo good, twisty and the creep factor was there! I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it! The writing was brilliant and the storyline was good and dark. 4 stars for this genius thriller!

The Broken Girls by Simone St James BOOK Review

I do declare, I am a fan of Simone St James! This was her first, debut novel and I read The Sun Down Motel, her second novel earlier this year. Both were absolute home runs!

I like a thrill, I don’t like bad dream horror inducing reads. This was the perfect amount of thrill, mystery and just plain good writing!

I love how the novel switches between 1950 and 2014 as well as the different points of views. Idlewild Hall sounds horrendous, how could any school not allow literature? Mary Hand sounds even worse than that though. A good haunt and tale of a student disappearing, what actually happened to Sonia and Mary Hand? Journalist, Fiona Sheridan is bound to found out and meets some incredible ladies along the way.

I highly recommend this read! I’m always up for a good ghost story! If y’all have any recommendations, please leave them in the comments!

The Sun Down Motel by Simone St James BOOK Review

I’ve so been craving a good ghost story and this, well this EXCEEDED my expectations!!

With two different perspectives, Carly and her Aunt Viv, we learn the inner secrets of one of the old, lost highway motels, The Sun Down Motel. What makes it click and why does it act the way it does?

This book, safe to say, is my favorite of 2020 and I’m not sure that anything can top it!

Sure, you have authors like Stephen King who write, hauntingly fleeting stories but, this that Simone St James has written, honestly is better than most of King’s novels that I’ve read!

The drive and determination of these characters is fantastic and keeps the story alive and creepy as hell!
