The Heiress by Rachel Hawkins BOOK Review

“Sometimes, when I look up at Ruby’s portrait, I think about how happy she was when it was painted. She thought she’d beaten it then, the dark thing that was lurking inside her.”

Another Rachel Hawkins gem completed and WOW!! It was truly a page turner that had me in its grips and still hasn’t let me go after finishing it.

The story of a family filled with secrets, murder and lots of money. A kidnapping, the death of four husbands and a mansion filled with people who can’t stand the others. Can money make everything better or does bad karma follow you wherever you go, regardless of the circumstances?

Truly a great read, I’m giving it four stars for the way it kept me intrigued, curious and flipping the page on my kindle. I loved it!!

The Villa by Rachel Hawkins BOOK Review

The Villa..where mystery and a past intertwine to make a really enjoyable read.

Emily and Chess as kids and growing up were besties and they still are just not close. Both are writers now when Chess texts out of the blue for a lunch date. Afterwards, Chess invites Emily to an Italian Villa for some much needed relaxation and maybe some writing inspiration. Emily has been struggling while going through a divorce and this Villa has a really interesting past. A past that could inspire her. Will the tragic history be revealed?

As always, Rachel is a fabulous writer. She knows how to steer a story and how to truly draw you in. I absolutely loved this one. It had a Daisy Jones vibe with murder mixed in. The details were easily my favorite, enticing me and helping me see how the story played out. Really excellent, four stars!!

The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins BOOK Review

Another fantastic read, so so good!! I see why everyone is loving it!! And you can grab it yourself in January 5!!

Do you dream of living in a fancy neighborhood, being involved in the women’s clubs to beautify said neighborhood? To spend money on things you normally wouldn’t dream of “wasting” money on? “Jane” wishes she could be a part of these women’s lives, to not be a dog walker for the rest of her life. She dreams of living in one of these beautifully, huge homes. It happens but, everything has a consequence, right? Nothing is as perfect as it looks like from outside.

Thoroughly enjoyed this read, read easily and didn’t want to put it down and the twists were awesome, it wasn’t a clear cut “who dunnit”. I definitely recommend this one! Thanks to NetGalley, Rachel and St Martins Press for the advanced readers copy!
